English-Writing Minor

The English-Writing Minor is designed to provide you with concentrated study of and practice in writing, language, and rhetoric.

English-Writing Minor Courses

Total Credits: 18

Core Requirements (12 credits)

Students must take at least twelve credits chosen from the following courses. A maximum of three credits from ENGL 469 is applicable to this minor.

  • ENGL 285 Scriptwriting (3)
  • ENGL 286 Writing for the Workplace (3)
  • ENGL 288 Introduction to Creative Writing (3)
  • ENGL 387 Technical Report Writing (3)
  • ENGL 388 Creative Writing (3)
  • ENGL 469 Internship (1-3)
  • ENGL 488 Capstone: Advanced Creative Writing (3)

Restricted Electives (6 credits)

Students must take six credits in English electives from the following list:

  • ENGL 317 Personal Lives, National Affairs (3)
  • ENGL 332 Film and the Novel (3)
  • ENGL 346 Virtue and Vice in Gothic Storytelling (3)
  • ENGL 407 Big City, Big Impact (3)
