Honors Program Course Requirements
All of the Honors Program requirements provide high-achieving students like you with a challenging curriculum suited to your needs, interests and abilities. There are two separate tracks available for the Honors Program: the Coursework Honors Track and the Capstone Honors Track.
What Honors Track should I choose?
- If you are a new entering student with several LASC classes needed to graduate the Coursework Honors Track is perfect for you.
- If you are a student entering MSUM with most of your LASC requirements completed, such as a transfer student, the Capstone Honors Track is the right choice.
Coursework Honors Track Requirements
Coursework Honors Track students must fulfill the following requirements.
- HON 100: Intro to Honors (one credit, counts towards FYE)
- Five LASC Classes (Also know as "Generals") with HON designation.
- There will be HON seats set aside in approximately 12 LASC classes per semester.
- Earn 12 points per year attending enrichment events.

The Coursework Honors Track is perfect for new entering student with several LASC classes needed to graduate.
Capstone Honors Track Requirements
Capstone Honors Track students must fulfill the following requirements.
- HON 100: Intro to Honors (one credit, counts towards FYE)
- HON 492A & 492B: A two course sequence for planning and carrying out an Honors Capstone. Development of an intellectual and/or professional written project that demonstrates your accomplishments in the program taken Senior year.
- Earn a B+ or higher in a major designated class.
- Earn 12 points per year attending enrichment events.
Who is the Capstone Honors Track Right For?
The Coursework Capstone Track is perfect for students entering MSUM with most of their LASC requirements completed, such as transfer students.
