Non-Degree Seeking Student Admissions
You are a non-degree seeking student if you have graduated from high school or completed the GED and want to take a few courses at MSUM, but not complete a bachelors or masters degree.
You should complete a Non-Degree Seeking application if you plan to:
- complete a certificate program
- complete courses to transfer back to your current institution
- take a few courses for personal, professional development and enrichment
Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for federal financial aid. For more information about covering your tuition costs, learn more about payment plans and loans.

Visiting Student Program
If you are a current student at another Minnesota State school, please utilize our visiting student program and register for the courses through eServices using your StarID credentials.
- If you are interested in taking a course that has a pre-requisite or restriction, the instructor for the course will need to review and approve you to take the course. Please apply as non-degree seeking student using your StarID credentials in order for the instructor to be able to override you into the course. If there are no restrictions or pre-requisites for the course, you do not need to submit an application.
