You will employ the latest music recording technology within three professional production facilities while participating in the student-led production company. This group gives you record label and event production experience across many disciplines by helping artists realize their vision from start to finish. Not an audio engineer? No problem! Every company needs a creative, business, marketing and management team to make it all go. Over the past 30 years, thousands of music recordings, sound designs and film scores, voice overs and commercials have been produced by students like you.
You have the opportunity to perform in pit orchestras and/or on stage as featured performers (through collaboration with our Musical Theater program) as part of our University Theatre Series or our summer theater company, the Straw Hat Players.
Your courses allow you to be an integral part of the event culture on campus. Opportunities include the Cheryl Nelson Lossett Performing Arts Series, concerts, recitals and more. Each year, hundreds of live production opportunities are available.
Fargo-Moorhead is a regional center for entertainment, and because MSUM enjoys a sterling reputation for its excellence in production and service, faculty and students are frequently asked to assist with these events. Some examples include assisting with performances at the Fargodome or Bluestem Center for the Arts, or behind-the-scenes technical support for events such as the Minnesota gubernatorial debates.
